The IU Southeast Middle School Band Camp will be a four-day experience designed to give your middle school band students a chance to refine their instrumental skills in a demanding yet fun atmosphere. Students with at least one year of experience playing in band will be welcomed to participate in the camp. Students that have just completed 8th grade are also allowed to participate.
There will be auditions for seating placements in our ensemble as well as masterclasses each day to prepare students for sight-reading, chamber music, and audition preparation. There will also be daily concert performances by our faculty and student groups to give students a chance to experience the possibilities as they learn to play their instruments and go onto high school and eventually college.
It is summer break so we will also have some fun activities during the day so the students will have a chance to get to know each other outside of rehearsals! The camp will conclude with a finale concert featuring music the students have learned throughout the week.
If your child enjoys playing in their school band this will be a great experience for them to keep playing their instrument during the summer
